MK Construction buys in Taylor Business Center
Gulf Coast Business Review, December 2009

Punta Gorda-based general contractor and developer MK Construction has bought out a partner for total ownership of five building pads and five condominium units in Taylor Business Center for $1.15 million.

All of the infrastructure is in place to develop the five lots, including the park lots and water and sewer service.  The five lots can each be developed with a 14,400-square-foot flex building.  The five condominium units total 6,000 square feet.

“We have been the developer from the beginning in there,” says Magnus Karlstedt, president of MK Construction.  “We are going to be exploring what other kinds of uses we can get in there.  It has commercial intensive zoning, which is very open to a lot of different ues.  With everything we have in place over there we can have a building built and built-out for a user in just three to four months.”

Karlstedt expects the next two years to be slow as the economy recovers, but he expects conditions to pick up in Punta Gorda ahead of a recovery countrywide.

MK Construction is also currently developing the 4.8 acres Gulf Coast Medical Park on Plantation Road next to the new $200-million Gulf Coast Medical Center expansion.
